BHAVNAGAR CITY HISTORY :- INFORMATION ABOUT BHAVNAGAR CITY
Bhavnagar is a city in the Bhavnagar district of the Saurashtra region of the Gujarat State of India. By Bhavsinghi Gohil found in 1724. Before it was merge with the Union Territory in 1948, it was the capital of Bhavnagar State, which was a princely state. Bhavnagar district has their own administrative Headquarters now. To the west of Gulf of Khambhat, Bhavnagar city comes and 198 km from the State Capital Gandhinagar.
For snack “Gadhiya”, Bhavnagar District is popularly famous. It has been always important city for the trade with many large and small scale industries. In Bhavnagar Taluka, around 4,460 Small Scale Industries are there at present. Other industries are repairing and servicing, textiles, chemicals, glass, and ceramics, and wood products. Since the early 18th Century, Bhavnagar had trade links with Southeast Asia, Africa, Arabia and ports of Red Sea.
Bhavnagar is well connect with the cities of Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat by road. Gohil Rajput of the Survyavanshi clan who shifted to Gujarat and then establish three capitals such as Sejakpur (now Ranpur), Umrala, Sihor. In the year 1194, Sejakpur was found. The old town of Bhavnagar was fortify town with gates leading to other important regional towns. Before the independence of India in 1947, Bhavnagar was an independent State ruled by the Rajput Gohil family in 1947.
Literary achievers like Govardhan Tripathi, Kavi Kant, Narsihm Mehta and Ganga Sati have their roots in Bhavnagar. There are many places to roam around. Places like Gaurishankar lake, Nilambag Palace, Shopping point in Bhavnagar, Victoria park, Takhteshwar Temple, Water lock gate.
