Chhath Pooja Is An Ancient Hindu Vedic Festival. This Festival Is Celebrated In The Indian States Of Bihar, Up And Jharkhand. Chhath Pooja Is Dedicated To Sun And His Wife Usha And Thanking For Fulfilment Of The Wishes And Natural Beauty On The Earth. Muslims Also Celebrate Chhath Pooja. These Festival Is Mainly Celebrated In Four Days.

There Is Also A Ritual For Bathing In The River And Keeping Fast And Standing In The Water For A Long Period Of Time. People Also Offer Prasada And Prayers To God Sun. Chhath Pooja Is Also Known As Chhath, Chhathi, Chhath Parv, Dala Chhath, Dala Puja, Surya Shashthi Etc.

About Chhath Pooja :-

Chhath Pooja Is Celebrated On The Sixth Day Of Kartika In The Vikram Samvat Which Is Kartik Shukla Shashthi. Chhath Is Also Celebrated In The Month Of Chaitra. After Navratri Chhath Pooja Is The Longest Festival And The Most Important Festival Also. Chhath Pooja Starts After 6 Days Of Diwali And Lasts Till 4 Days. On The First Day People Who Observe Fast Take Bath In The River Or A Small Pond. And Than Prepare The Lunch.

On The Second Day Kheer And Chapati Is Made Which Is Also Known As Kharna Or Kheer-Roti. After Having Fast For The Full Day People Offer Kheer-Roti To River Ganga And Sun God And Than Have Their Dinner Of Kheer-Roti. They Dp Not Even Take Water For The Full Day And Only At The Dinner Time They Could Eat Kheer And Roti.


The Third Day Is The Main Day Of The Chhath Pooja. On This Day People Use To Keep Fast And Offer Argha ( Sweet And Fruits ) To The River And Perform Surya Namaskar To The Setting Sun. And On The Fourth Day, The Fast Ends And Argha Is Offered To The Rising Sun. The Goddess Which Is Worshipped During The Chhath Pooja Is Also Known As Chhathi Maiya. Chhathi Mata Is Also Worshipped As “Rana Mai”.
