LAXMIVILAS PALACE HISTORY :- Palace has been construct since the Gaekwad, a prominent Maratha family, started ruling the Baroda State. The first one was a building known as the Sarkar Wada. This palace is most private palace and most majestic structures in India and was the private residency of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad. This place is delightful and never forget to visit at this palace after visiting to Baroda. In earlier times, there was a Zoo but now it has become small pond or a lake type where crocodiles lies. The beauty of the palace complete by the trees surrounding and beautiful garden.
About Laxmivilas Palace :-
Lucky tourists can spot monkeys or peacock roaming around. The chief architect of the place was Major Charles Mant. There are 10 hole-golf course inside the palace. The museum building was mainly construct as a school for the Maharaja’s children. The museum houses an extraordinarly collection of paintings by Raja Ravi Verma and other various artefacts gather from all around the world.
A good blend of both foreign as well as location materials and workmanship was use in construction of the palace. Red stone which is use in palace is bring from Agra, blue strap stone from puna, marbles from Rajasthan and Itly was used. while Twelve workmen from Venice laid down the beautiful montage floor of the darbar hall of the palace.
Timings to visit at the Palace are 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Palace remains close on every Monday. The entrance fee for the museum is INR 60 per person. The entrance fee for the palace is INR 150 per person.
